Thiruvarkat Bhagavathy, the deity of thiruvarkad is worshiped as the daughter of Shiva. Taiparadevatha is the main murti of Tiruvarkat Kav.

Tiruvarkkad temple is the second of the first two Bhadrakali temples in Kerala. Kodungallur temple is the first one. Madayi kaavilamma  who resides in Madaikavi is the supreme deity of the Chirakkal royal family. This temple is located at Madayi in pazhayangadi near Kannur.
