Kuttichathan is a hugely popular form of theyyam. 

Kuttichathan theyyam, also known as sasthappan theyyam is considered to have originated from lord shiva. 

Pookuttichathan (flower kuttichathan) is one among the 108 kuttichathan theyya kolams. Though there are a lot of kuttichathan theyyams, the prominent are Karim Kuttichathan (black kuttichathan), Poo Kuttichathan and Thee Kuttichathan (fire kuttichathan).

PooKutty chathan theyyam is worshipped during the annual theyyam/thira kaliyattam festival in Kannur and Kasaragod region of Kerala. According to the believers, pookuttychathan fulfills your wish, but is at the same time, naughty. 

The theyyam is worshipped annually to keep the deity calm so that he does not cause problems to people and other beings.
